Selecting a gutter Contractor

With over 400 gutter companies in the D/FW area, trying to pick a qualified contractor can be a daunting task. The average time a gutter company stays in business is 18 months, and there are no industry standards. All you have to do is buy a used gutter machine and your in business; we have included some helpful tips to ensure that you find a qualified company.

  1. Get more than one estimate, when comparing bids make sure each is for the same scope of work.
  2. Never give money to a contractor before work is performed. Payment should only be made after work is completed and you are satisfied.
  3. Make sure the company carries Contractors Liability Insurance. Ask to see a copy of the insurance certificate.
  4. The proposal should look professional; clearly describe the work to be performed and the price to be paid. Physical address should be printed on proposal.
  5. Check how long each company has been in business and their record with the Better Business Bureau. (A warranty is only good if you can find your contactor when you need them.)
  6. If requested, were references or pictures of completed jobs provided? View Jobs
  7. Is the company a member of a trade organization such as NARI (National Organization of the Remolding Industry) with strict member guidelines?
  8. Was the estimator prompt and courteous, seem knowledgeable when offering suggestions and answering your questions, or was he only interested in making sure he had the lowest bid?
